About the OpportunityPPCR is looking for a full-time Carpenter based in Richmond, BC, supporting projects across the Lower Mainland.
Reporting to the Construction Manager, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality carpentry and restoration work across a variety of residential and commercial projects, contributing to efficient project delivery, strong client outcomes, and a collaborative team environment.
In this position, you will be primarily responsible for completing finishing carpentry work, interpreting scopes, and adapting to evolving project needs, while supporting emergency response tasks and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Completing finishing carpentry work including trim, doors, mouldings, drywall, insulation, and other interior and occasional exterior repairs
- Interpreting scopes of work, determining material requirements, and adjusting to on-site conditions to deliver quality outcomes
- Operating shop and job-site tools and equipment safely and effectively
- Supporting emergency and labour-related tasks such as material removal, equipment setup, and board-ups when required
- Collaborating with project managers, homeowners, and team members to ensure a positive experience and smooth project delivery
- Coaching, assisting, and guiding other carpenters and helpers on job tasks
- Maintaining accurate job documentation, daily timecards, and cost tracking
- Following company policies, safety standards, building code requirements, and maintaining clean, organized workspaces
To qualify, you will ideally be a Certified Journeyman Carpenter (Red Seal) with 3+ years of carpentry experience. We are also open to candidates who are newly certified or bring a strong combination of hands-on experience, skills, and training.
The following are required:
- Valid BC driver’s license
- Ownership of a suitable work vehicle (e.g., van or pickup truck) and personal carpentry tools
- Ability to undergo a criminal background check
- Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation (approximately one evening per week and one weekend per month)
Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:
- Experience in finishing carpentry including trim, doors, mouldings, and interior repairs
- Practical knowledge of drywall installation, finishing, painting, and general building maintenance
- Familiarity with interpreting scopes of work and adapting to changing site conditions
- Strong understanding of safe tool operation and workplace safety practices
- Knowledge of municipal and provincial building codes
- Experience working in residential, commercial, or restoration environments
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team
- Strong customer service skills and ability to interact professionally with homeowners and stakeholders
As our ideal candidate, you are someone who enjoys problem solving and thinking on the fly. You take pride in your work, but you are not rigid in how you approach it. You are happy to jump in where needed, whether that is finishing carpentry, helping set up equipment, or supporting the team to get the job done. You bring a team-first mindset, are open to learning and sharing your knowledge with others, and are comfortable working in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.
This is a hands-on, varied role for a carpenter who does not want to be stuck doing the same thing every day. You will be exposed to a wide range of projects, develop well-rounded skills quickly, and play a direct role in helping people get back into their homes and move forward after unexpected events. If you are looking for a place where you can grow, be trusted, and be part of a team that genuinely supports each other, this is the opportunity for you.
