Role Overview

The Business Analyst Co‑op supports the PMO Team Leads within Teck Digital Systems (TDS). In this role, you will contribute to project intake, resource planning, and efforts that support how Teck composes, builds, and delivers digital solutions.

You will gain practical experience coordinating a portfolio of projects, exposure to a wide range of IT projects-including Infrastructure, Applications, Cyber Security, and Data-and hands‑on learning in business analysis, digital governance, and project delivery.

This is a hybrid role, with mentoring and training provided to help you grow your skills and confidence.

We are looking for someone who is curious, eager to learn regarding the mining sector and the PMO field, and comfortable taking initiative in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Support the PMO Intake and Resource Allocation processes, including:
  • Analyzing data and preparing reports
  • Helping to keep portfolio, project, and resource information up to date
  • Engaging with business and technical stakeholders
  • Preparing and delivering presentations to various levels of stakeholders
  • Gain hands-on experience with Project Portfolio Management (PPM) by working with tools such as Power BI, Microsoft Planner, and Microsoft Project.
  • Get an overview of a diverse array of IT projects, including Infrastructure, Cyber Security, Applications, and Data initiatives.
  • Act as a Business Analyst on selected projects, contributing to:
  • Gathering and documenting business requirements
  • Conducting data analysis and preparing business documentation
  • Supporting project activities and coordination
  • Assisting with quality assurance (QA), testing, and validation
  • Identify and analyze business problems, support process reviews, conduct impact assessments, and participate in change‑management activities.
  • Maintain clear and current documentation, adapting quickly to evolving business needs.
  • Collaborate with technical and business teams to ensure alignment between business objectives and digital solutions.
  • Participate in mentorship, coaching sessions, and targeted training to build your skills in portfolio management, project delivery, and requirements evaluation.

Qualifications

  • Strong analytical thinking and problem‑solving abilities, with the ability to interpret complex information and communicate insights clearly.
  • Proven ability to work closely across departments and balance multiple tasks with competing priorities.
  • Interest in project and portfolio management, with curiosity about how large organizations plan and deliver IT initiatives.
  • Comfortable initiating actions, asking questions, and proposing ideas in a team environment.
  • Interest in learning about the mining industry and how digital systems support operational excellence.
  • Familiarity or curiosity about SDLC approaches (Agile, Waterfall) and business analysis tools or methods.
  • Curiosity about enterprise technology topics such as cloud services, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and IT service management.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, SharePoint, slide creation software); exposure to Power BI, Planner, or MS Project is an asset.
  • Familiarity with the mining or natural resources sector is an advantage, but not required.
  • Additional language skills-such as Spanish-are considered an asset.

Pay Range: CAD $4,108 - $5,183 per month

The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate's relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
