Job Description

6-month contract Kotlin Engineer role with a global retail client.

Contract Kotlin System Engineer role
Global enterprise organization investing heavily in integration and automation
In office work arrangement, 5 days a week in downtown Vancouver

What & Why:
As a result of growth our client is looking to hire a Kotlin software engineer to build and support its finance integration platform. You’ll work in an existing Kotlin codebase, connecting finance, order-management, and retail systems with third-party services. The focus is on inbound and outbound invoice flows, with data mappings, validation, and error handling that keep invoice data accurate, traceable, and adaptable to requirements across different countries. You’ll work with AWS infrastructure, write automated tests and documentation, and partner with Finance, Tax, Security, and engineering teams, using AI coding tools like GitHub Copilot and Codex while reviewing and owning the results.

They are located close to rapid transit in newly renovated offices in downtown Vancouver and have an in person work arrangement with 5 days a week in office.

You:
You will bring the following education, skills and experience to the role:

8-10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including Kotlin development and maintenance, with AI-assisted coding
Hands-on AWS and Terraform experience for infrastructure deployment
APIs and event-driven systems: data transformation and troubleshooting distributed systems
Engineering best practices: automated testing, code review, CI/CD, security, and observability, plus sound judgment in verifying AI-generated code and protecting sensitive data

Compensation:
This role pays between $75-95 per hour.
