Position Summary
Do you have a passion for nursing? We have the position for you! We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team at St. John Hospital.

Reporting to the Head Nurse, the staff nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care and nursing practice activities within the framework of quality management and in accordance with the St. John Hospital mission statement. The Northern Health Authority role is defined by the needs of the Hospital, a select patient/family population, agency expectations and the goals for professional nursing practice.

Shift Rotation/Hours of work:: Monday to Friday, Evenings, 14:00 to 18:00

New Wage: As of April 1, 2024 the new wage is: $41.42 - $59.52/hour

St. Johns Hospital is a 24 acute-care bed facility. The Hospital serves the communities of Vanderhoof and the Saik'uz First Nation, as well asacting as a referral centre for the surrounding communities of Burns Lake, Fort St. James and Fraser Lake.
The services of St John Hospital include:
• 24/7 Emergency department
• 2 outpatient bays
• Dietician
• Palliative Care
• Oncology Clinic
• Labour and delivery with Caesarean Section capabilities.
• Diagnostic Imaging, including Ultrasound and Fluoroscopy
• Lab including blood transfusion services
• 24/7 OR offering Orthopedic Day Surgery, Plastics, Dental, ENT, Endoscopy, and General Surgery
• Inpatient Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy
• Teaching facility for the University of Northern British Columbia

Qualfications
• Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.
• Postgraduate courses (within last five years) appropriate to service assignment or equivalent combination of education, training and experience. ACLS, TNCC, CPR Level C.
• Perioperative Certificate or post-graduate training in the OR and/or previous OR training and experience.

Skills and Abilities:
• Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
• Ability to promote safe, competent, patient care.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all members of the health care team.
• Ability to communicate, and maintain good public relations with family and friends of patients.
• Ability to recognize and intervene appropriately in an emergency situation.
• Physical ability to perform duties of the position.
