Position Summary
Do you have a passion for nursing? We have the position for you! We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team at Bulkley Valley District Hospital.

Reporting to the Head Nurse, the Operating Room nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care and nursing practice activities within the framework of quality management and in accordance with the Bulkley Valley District Hospital policies and accepted standards.

Shift Rotation/Hours of work: 07:00 to 15:00, Rotating

New Wage: As of April 1, 2024 the new wage is: $41.42 - $59.52/hour

Bulkley Valley District Hospital is a 19-bed acute care hospital which integrates home and community care into one facility. Services include emergency/outpatient, medical/surgical, maternity, palliative care, laboratory, radiology, pediatrics, home & community care and community cancer clinic. The medical staff in Smithers consists of family physicians, anesthetists, a pediatrician, visiting surgeons and other specialists.

Smithers has a population of 5,401 (2021) local residents and is located in the picturesque Bulkley Valley surrounded by three mountain ranges that provide a backdrop for the towns' Alpine setting. Check out Smithers where there is always something new to experience.

Qualfications
• Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.
• Post basic training and/or one year recent related clinical experience in an OR/PAR setting and/or one (1) year recent related clinical experience in a critical care area or an equivalent combination of training and experience acceptable to the hospital.
• Participation in on-call rotation required.
• Current up-to-date immunization record.
• Successful completion of Criminal Record Check.

Skills and Abilities:
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Demonstrated ability to organize assigned workload and set priorities.
• Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with a variety of internal and external contacts including coworkers, physicians, community agencies representatives, patients, and families.
• Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
• Ability to operate related equipment.
