About the Opportunity

Our thriving Surrey office is looking to hire a Transportation Engineer to enhance our current professional practice. Our teams work closely with our clients to solve complex, multi-stakeholder transportation issues through the delivery of high-quality concept development, functional engineering, detailed design, and delivery of transportation infrastructure.  Our work includes all types of transportation infrastructure to support the movement of people and goods, including highways, urban roads, and active transportation corridors.

The continuing demand for innovative solutions in transportation design and engineering has prompted our search for a talented and motivated individual.  In this role, you will have the opportunity to support and lead a variety of projects for clients throughout Western Canada.

Coupled with the diverse learning and project experience opportunities, do you see yourself excited to contribute to…

  • Guiding and developing analysis to support transportation planning, design, and decision-making at all scales, including community-wide, neighbourhood, and corridors – both urban streets and highways.
  • Provide technical guidance for junior EITs and expertise on the following topics: transportation demand modeling, sub-area modeling, travel demand model validation and calibration, and travel demand model application.
  • Technical writing and communications, including the preparation of engineering documents for delivery to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Prepare presentations for client and internal working groups.
  • Lead and provide engineering support on a broad range of transportation planning and engineering projects, including multi-modal plans, corridor plans, and neighbourhood and local area plans.
  • Strengthen our relationships with local, regional, and provincial government agencies by providing exceptional, technically sound service that provides deliverables unique to each assignment, tailored to suit the specific needs of each client and stakeholder.
  • Other tasks as required.

About You

Given the variety of project needs, we will consider candidates who have 3-7 years of experience as an EIT or are registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Western Canada with a range of experience, education, and backgrounds in transportation. Typical qualifications would include an undergraduate or graduate degree in Civil Engineering. In addition, the following attributes would be considered of great benefit to this role:

  • Direct experience with TransLink’s Regional Transportation Model.
  • Extensive experience with travel demand modeling using software such as INRO EMME and PTV Visum.
  • Experience with Python coding.
  • Experience with Activity Based Models is an asset, but not required.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to synthesize, distill, document, and effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • A practical and collaborative approach to problem-solving, with a keen eye for detail.
  • The ability to listen to others to develop and nurture positive interpersonal relationships with people from varying backgrounds, including colleagues and clients.
  • Experience working in a consulting environment, including a demonstrated ability to deliver on multiple assignments in a dynamic environment is an asset.
  • An interest in working with different scales and contexts, from developing technical transportation models to supporting multi-modal transportation plans.
  • An aptitude for problem-solving, researching and analyzing information, and clearly communicating the results in verbal or written format.
  • Committed to ongoing personal, professional, and practice development.
