The Executive Director, Primary Health Care works collaboratively with the Medical Lead, Primary Care to provide leadership and support to strategic and operational program planning, implementation, coordination, service integration, and evaluation for Primary Health Care in Northern BC.

The Executive Lead collaborates with the Medical Lead, Primary Care and other physician leaders and professional staff to provide leadership and support for the alignment of primary care and Northern Health (NH) services and the change management necessary to improve the quality of health services across the continuum of care. The Executive Lead also provides strategic leadership to regional planning processes focused on service redesign, human resources, information management and resource allocation within NH owned and operated Primary Care Homes and supports the development of strategies to streamline transitions of care for patients who require specialized community services and access to higher levels of care.

To support the achievement of an integrated, accessible system of services built on a foundation of primary care, the Executive Lead provides strategic oversight to NH Primary Care Homes and develops sustainable, standardized medical clinic business models that work in support of the implementation of primary care service delivery models that advance inter-professional team base care, achieves defined health outcomes for patients and supports patient and provider satisfaction. The Executive Lead works closely with the Medical Lead, Primary Care to influence and support private medical clinics to provide inter-disciplinary, team based care through partnerships with Divisions of Family Practice and physicians in private medical practice where Division structures do not exist. The Executive Lead advances quality improvement in primary care using data, evidence informed practice guidelines, standards, policies and research and supports the use of learning to enhance the patient care experience.

The Executive Lead acts as NH's lead in provincial primary health care strategic planning processes and in developing partnerships with the Ministry of Health and other organizations and associations involved in the development of primary care in B.C.

Starting salary will be approximately from $128,298 to $160,372 and will be based on education, training, experience, and salaries of similar positions.

Qualfications
• A Masters Degree in health administration or a health related discipline.
• Seven (7) to ten (10) years' experience in a senior position responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of complex service delivery systems;
• Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Skills and Abilities:
• Strong organizational and project management skills including the ability to plan, develop, implement, monitor and evaluate programs both independently and in teams.
• Demonstrated knowledge of current and emerging health services and practice issues at the provincial and national levels.
• Ability to effectively present and clarify requirements, expectations, ideas and concepts to gain buy in from stakeholders.
• Commitment to client/patient focused care.
• Good oral, written and presentation communication skills including facilitation and negotiation skills.
• Demonstrated analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills that involve the use of data and information.
• Ability to establish partnerships.
• Experience in designing and implementing continuous quality improvement programs.
• Working knowledge of research processes and methodologies.
