About the Opportunity

T'ít'q'et Administration is looking for a full-time Director of Lands and Natural Resources based in Lillooet, BC.

This role oversees the comprehensive management of T'ít'q'et's Lands and Natural Resources, reporting directly to the Administrator, and encompasses a broad range of duties from policy development to operational oversight.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Promoting and integrating the P’egp’íg’lha Vision, Values, and Cultural Heritage into community plans
  • Supervising and evaluating Lands and Natural Resources Department staff
  • Developing and implementing strategic operational and financial plans
  • Guiding the registration and management of leases and permits on reserve lands
  • Facilitating community consultations and supporting council decisions on land use
  • Building and maintaining relationships with external entities and internal departments
  • Ensuring compliance with environmental, legal, and community standards
  • Seeking and managing external funding and budgeting for department initiatives
  • Directing land use planning and sustainable resource management practices
  • Leading the engagement in economic development opportunities within the community

About You

To qualify, you will need a post-secondary degree or diploma in business administration, community planning, economic development, lands and resource management, environmental sciences, wildlife management, or a related discipline.

A minimum of 3 years of experience in a leadership role or managing reserve lands will also be beneficial for the role.

Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

  • Experience in leading teams to develop and implement solutions effectively
  • Knowledge of First Nations cultural practices and land management
  • Proficiency in navigating land codes and legal frameworks, notably with the experience following the 2019 Land Code update
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships
  • Experience with budget management and funding applications
  • Strong computer skills using MS Office Suite and land registry systems
  • Proficiency in environmental assessments and land use planning
  • Ability to oversee complex lease and permit registrations
