The Trade and Industry Development Division (TID), part of the Ministry of Jobs, Economic Development, and Innovation, facilitates trade promotion, investment attraction, industry development, and supports initiatives to increase export capacity in all regions of the province. TID works collaboratively with key stakeholders, industry, and all levels of government to build an inclusive, sustainable, and innovative economy. The division capitalizes on these strategic partnerships by establishing integrated trade, investment, and industry development policy and programs to help B.C. increase exports, solidify international alliances, attract foreign direct investment, and eliminate protectionist measures.

The Industry Development and Corporate Initiatives Branch takes a leadership role in policy development, the identification, development, and implementation of best in class, industrial and manufacturing programs and resources, and oversees the delivery of corporate services and operations to support the delivery of division programs.

The Senior Manager leads and manages policies and strategies related to industry development that support the objectives of the Ministry and the government. The Senior Manager develops partnerships across government and industry to ensure a collaborative approach to economic development, sector development and alignment with government priorities. The position has the lead responsibility for managing industry development policies and initiatives.

Job Requirements:

  • University degree in commerce, economics, business administration, public administration, related field or equivalent.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of recent, related senior level experience in each the following areas:
    • Policy and/or program analysis and development.
    • Strategic planning, strategy development and business case development.
    • Working collaboratively across functional organizational units to deliver high-profile and/or sensitive projects.
    • Providing advice to senior government officials with regards to issues and recommending appropriate solutions and strategies.
    • Providing direct customer/client service.
    • Management of staff and/or project teams.
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.


Preference may be given to candidates with B.C. industry sector experience.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to three (3) days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill both current and/or future permanent vacancies within the Trade and Industry Development Division.
This position is excluded from union membership.
