About Seasmoke Whale Watching

Since 1986 Seasmoke Whale Watching has operated ecologically friendly tours in the pristine waterways of Queen Charlotte Strait, Johnstone Strait (Robson Bight), and Blackfish Sound. This area is considered the best place to view Northern Resident Orcas. Due to the return of the Humpback whale, these gentle giants, along with the occasional sighting of Minke and Bigg’s (Transient) killer whales can also be seen.

We are a small family owned and operated business. We run a 12 passenger vessel which has excellent viewing opportunities so guests can enjoy the stunning wildlife and scenery this area has to offer.

We run approximately two tours a day which are 3 to 3.5 hours long with departures from two locations: Alert Bay on Cormorant Island and Alder Bay on Vancouver Island.
