Outdoor Recreation Council of BC

ORC’s vision is for British Columbia to be a world-leader in the conservation and enjoyment of outdoor places, and for all British Columbians to have access to diverse and abundant opportunities to enjoy outdoor recreation experiences. Our mission is to build bridges between outdoor recreation groups and to advocate on behalf of the full range of public outdoor recreation users of BC’s lands and waters.

We represent the interests of the outdoor recreation community to government and industry, advocates for and facilitates access to public lands and waters for outdoor recreation, and fosters responsible use of BC's outdoors through education.

We work on behalf of the interests of over 50 provincial and regional member groups, representing over 100,000 individuals, to protect the outdoor recreation way of life in BC, building bridges and providing forums for the exchange of views.

Founded in 1976, the Outdoor Recreation Council is a research, education, and advocacy organization. The Council's members represent the full spectrum of land and water-based recreational activities across BC. As a respected voice for outdoor recreation in BC, ORC provides information and advice on recreation policy and management practices.
