Municipal Insurance Association of British Columbia

The Municipal Insurance Association is a member-owned and operated risk pool. Founded in 1987 by 144 B.C. local governments its mission has been to provide: broad liability coverage for its members’ financial security; stable insurance costs; and stable risk management education and resources for members.

The MIABC was born in the midst of a crisis in the mid-1980s and has done an admirable job of addressing the challenges faced by B.C.’s local governments when they were abandoned by the commercial liability insurance industry. The association is dedicated to delivering stable, low cost liability insurance and risk management services to its members.
