Bulk fuel transportation company in Burnaby is seeking a full-time Yard Coordinator to be responsible for coordinating yard and warehouse operations including shipping/receiving, warehousing, material distribution, expediting, inventory maintenance, stock levels and related reporting. This position is also responsible for gate security and greeting/directing visitors arriving at the facility.

Hours are 7am to 3:30, M-F. Vehicle required to access location.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manages self and others in support of safe and incident-free operations and is responsible for understanding and abiding by safety management system policies and procedures
  • Main gate security, greeting and directing visitors / couriers and communicating their arrival to the appropriate person(s).
  • Ensures visiting contractors are vetted, escorted and sign in & out in accordance with company security requirements and Transport Canada regulations. Also ensures that visiting contractors are complying with Company PPE and safety policies.
  • Monitoring the security cameras and completing weekly safety patrols of the facility
  • Screens and inspects deliveries made to the facility and conducts random screening of vehicles entering the facility.
  • Determines best method of shipping; utilizes knowledge of shipping procedures, routes and rates and prepare all outgoing shipments including; packing and banding of large items, preparing bills of lading and contacting freight carriers to arrange pick-up and delivery.
  • Oversees shipping/receiving processes including unpacking and inspecting of incoming shipments, entering receipts into a system, recording shortages, etc.
  • Regularly organizes shipping/receiving area(s), keeping them clean and free of debris.
  • Loads, unloads and moves materials, using a forklift and pallet jack as needed.
  • Fills departmental purchase requisitions as required and provides support of inventory processes as required.
  • Provides pick-up and delivery of supplies, mail, and other products as required throughout the company.
  • Assists Purchasing and Accounting departments with resolution order issues or discrepancies, as needed
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in a warehouse/shipping department and inventory management.
  • Must possess knowledge of purchasing practices and procedures.
  • Computer proficiency, with ability to learn electronic inventory control systems and Great Plains/Microsoft Dynamics or similar purchasing system.
  • Strong organizational, time-management and planning skills.
  • Ability to independently organize, prioritize, complete and follow-up on work assignments.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents as they relate to the essential functions of the job.
  • Highly effective customer service skills and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to perform a wide variety of duties and responsibilities with accuracy and speed under the pressure of time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Experience in material handling equipment (forklift, pallet jack) is preferred but training can be provided.
  • Maritime experience is preferred.
