Scope

The City of Surrey Recreation Services Team is looking for Weight Room Attendants that love fitness, motivating people and are committed to providing great customer service at the following locations:
    • Grandview Heights Aquatic Centre - 16855 24 Avenue, Surrey. • Guildford Recreation Centre - 15105 105 Avenue, Surrey. • Newton Recreation Centre - 13730 72 Avenue, Surrey. • North Surrey Sport & Ice Complex - 10950 126A Street, Surrey. • South Surrey Recreation and Arts Centre - 14601 20 Avenue, Surrey.

This auxiliary position has varying scheduling needs which include weekends, weekdays, and evening shifts. We offer a dynamic work environment and excellent opportunities for growth and development or health and wellness.

Responsibilities

As the Weight Room Attendant you will:
    • Demonstrate excellent communication with the public and facility staff. • Maintain a daily log of incidents and address customer concerns effectively. • Perform administrative duties including but not limited to facility/shift check completion and accident reports. • Offer assistance, information, and orientations for patrons as needed. • Design and deliver information sessions. • Set up and take down of equipment and program areas. • Ensure weight room is clean, safe and hazard free. • Clean weight room equipment. • Check and maintain equipment so it is safe for public use. • Assist participants in meeting their fitness goals.


Qualifications

Successful candidates will have:
    • Grade 12 plus formal training and minimum of six (6) months of related experience. • A passion for health and wellness. • A friendly, customer-centric approach to their work. • Emergency First Aid with CPR-A and AED (or higher). • Weight Training or Personal Training Certificate and must be currently registered with one of the following recognized organizations:
      • BCRPA • BCAK • CSEP • CFES
