Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. 

  • Daily assists in supervision of Warehouse Workers and Truck Drivers. Directs, coordinates and evaluates daily duties and requirements
  • Assists District Operations Manager or Warehouse Supervisor in driving safety initiatives within the facility to comply with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Assists in executing daily branch and corporate safety policies
  • Assists planning layout of warehouse and other storage areas, considering turnover, size, weight and related factors of items stored
  • Advises employees on care and preservation of items received, stored and shipped; methods and use of equipment in handling, storing, maintaining and shipping stock and related problems
  • Assists District Operations Manager or Warehouse Supervisor in ordering stock and studies records and recommends remedial actions for reported non-usable, slow moving and excess stock
  • Assists Drivers with daily routing and delivery objectives, including junk pickups
  • Reviews warehouse records for accuracy of information and compliance with established procedures and determines adequacy of stock levels
  • Schedules warehouse employees for coverage for special and monthly inventories processes
  • Traces history of items to determine reasons for discrepancies between inventory and stock control records and recommends remedial actions to resolve discrepancies
  • Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules and expedites workflow
  • Examines work for exactness, neatness and conformance to policy
  • Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates
  • Fill in as Warehouse Worker or Driver as needed
  • Attend all safety and warehouse meetings
  • Assists corporate and branch management with adherence to policies and guidelines
  • Housekeeping and other duties as assigned for the warehouse

Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 

  • Minimum High School diploma or GED
  • One year of college or technical school, or minimum 3 years related work experience
  • DZ or Class 3 drivers license with air brake endorsement and clean drivers abstract perferred
  • Ability to frequently lift up to 50 pounds or more
  • Computer literate (Word, Excel, Outlook); other internal company systems to be trained 

Tools & Equipment Used

Computer for time clock and back-office shipping/receiving procedures (JDE). Warehouse equipment including forklift, pallet jack, tailgate lift.

Repetitive movement required to stack and un-stack heavy product. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to focus and read pick ticket instructions.
