Volunteer Project Manager (Data Migration and Upgrade) - C loses June 26th, 2020 at 12pm

Location: North Vancouver

Annex welcomes opportunities to give back to the community. To that effect, we are working with PMV, a non-profit organization that helps other non-profit organizations achieve a wide range of projects and goals by facilitating the volunteer activities of professional Project Managers. Annex is helping to provide visibility to this worthwhile organization's search for volunteers on a no-fee basis. We will gather and forward applications directly to PMV and the non-profit organization mentioned in the job description below.

North Shore Restorative Justice Society (NSRJS) provides a peaceful and restorative approach to crime and conflict that seeks to address the needs of victims, offenders and communities by offering processes that encourage dialogue, reparation and healing.

Scope of Work

Currently, the NSRJS is working with an information management system (IMS) that is out of date. Therefore, we would like an experienced volunteer to come in, make an informed analysis and give a comprehensive report including providing an action plan with cost analysis of converting data from old software and migrating to a new platform.

  • To provide NSRJ with insightful recommendations for the future of our Information Management System
  • Be able to conduct cost and time analysis for all necessary changes/improvements
  • Plan the size and scope of the project including cost analysis of data conversion and migration
  • Identify requirements around the data location, format and sensitivity in preparation for conversion and migration
  • Identify appropriate entity to complete the recommended changes and transition

  • Provide a detailed report on converting and migrating data from old software to new platform including:
    • Cost analysis of migrating the data to new software
    • Timeline for the project including alternative scenarios to meet client's requests
    • Recommend improvements to software management and suggest resources to providing improvements to the IMS

Required Qualifications
  • At least 3 years of project management experience with various Information Management Systems
  • Ability to oversee project and provide informed recommendations backed up with relevant knowledge and experience
  • Analytical thinking and ability to articulate and communicate technical information well
  • Ability to improve our current system so that we can fulfill funder requirements and ensure high-quality disaggregated data that can be both maintained and destroyed in line with privacy requirements

  • The Executive Director will provide a letter of recommendation to the PM volunteer at the successful conclusion of the project and serve as a reference, if appropriate.

Start: July 1st, 2020

Duration: 3 months (3-4 hours per week
