Job Description: Reporting to the Cultural Experience Assistant Manager, the Visitor Services Assistants (2) will work primarily as front-line tourism staff and will form an integral part of the Cultural Experience Department team.  


  • Provide exceptional customer service to Garden visitors
  • Process admission sales by operating cash and point-of-sale machine
  • Assist Visitor Services with daily tasks, which may include light lifting and cleaning, as required
  • Assist with Garden events and activities which may include set up, tear down and event coordination
  • Deliver interpretive tours of the Garden
  • Work collaboratively and respectfully with Garden staff and volunteers
  • Currently studying tourism, arts and culture, history, anthropology, Asian studies, or related field
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Able to use effective assessment and judgment skills when dealing with a variety of customer service scenarios
  • Enthusiasm for heritage sites in Vancouver as well as the Arts & Culture industry
  • Able to work well independently and with a team
  • Fluency in both written and oral English
  • Fluency in another language is encouraged but not required


This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs program. The successful applicant must:

  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or have refugee status in Canada
  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
  • Was a full-time student during the preceding year with the intention of returning to full-time studies this upcoming fall
  • Be available to work for 35 hours/week for 12 weeks, from June until August 2018
  • Special priority will be given to applicants who are members of a visible minority group, who are members of an indigenous group, or who are new immigrants/refugees

Remuneration: $13/hour
