Daiya is one of the largest, fastest growing plant-based food companies in North America.  Fueled by significant macro trends and a strong company culture, Daiya has rapidly and profitably grown since inception in 2008.  Our company’s recent purchase by Otsuka Holdings of Japan, our significant 45% revenue CAGR and aggressive future aspirations have motivated the search for a highly talented marketing executive to provide leadership in growing Daiya into a $1B brand by 2028.


This is a significant career opportunity for the right candidate.  The Vice President, Marketing position is a key leadership role requiring an exceptionally strategic, high EQ executive with a strong large-CPG skill set and demonstrated success in small, entrepreneurial environments.   With the ability to provide outstanding thought and team leadership, this critical leader will be responsible for leveraging our significant North American momentum to build Daiya into one of the pre-eminent plant-based brands of the world.


  • Develop near and long range strategic brand building plans for all current and future categories within the Daiya portfolio
    • Evolving master brand positioning and product categories to build the Daiya brand.
    • Drive innovation strategy across the organization
    • Mine consumer insights to inform all consumer facing strategies
    • Optimize plans and execution of all marketing mix elements
    • Leverage synergy across all channels of trade and Daiya functions
  • Manage, mentor, support and develop our Marketing Managers, with the bandwidth to design and scale up the group to facilitate 5x company growth over next 10 years
  • Provide superior leadership to our best in class outside marketing services agencies
  • Participate as a member of Daiya management team in setting and executing strategic direction for the organization
  • Collaborate closely with Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to integrate and align strategies and tactics
  • Drive prioritization of department financial and human resources
  • Develop and manage marketing budget across products and channels to ensure maximum results with limited financial and human capital
  • Thoroughly understand and monitor the Natural Foods market and food industry in general, develop systems and utilize objective, data-driven tools (i.e. SPINS, AC Nielsen) to identify and track trends, opportunities and challenges
  • Establish new product best practices, systems and processes for roll-out and speed-to-market
  • Build long-term co-branding and marketing partnerships to leverage our marketing investment while maximizing appropriate brand development
  • Reinforce, promote, and lead by example around the company’s core values of collaboration, innovation, performance and family.
  • MBA is strongly desired
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in CPG industry, with focus in the US market - Must have experience in Natural Food Products Industry
  • A mastery of and demonstrated track record in strategic brand building across multiple business sizes, product categories and distribution channels.  Must have a very strong intellect capable of synthesizing disparate facts, insights and analysis to provide world class thought and team leadership 
  • A solid understanding of Natural food product consumers including vegan, vegetarian, allergen/food sensitivity, kosher and health conscious market segments.  Must honor and respect our consumer’s lifestyle choices and ensure appropriate personal alignment of the Daiya brand Superior analytical stills and the ability to summarize into key strategic implications and action plans
  • High IQ and EQ with a strong sensitivity to cultural dynamics
  • Entrepreneurial and innovative DNA, willing to consider the outrageous and respect the pragmatic
  • Deep understanding of social media, viral marketing, the internet and the strategic marketing opportunities they represent
  • True team player mentality and believe in the value of inclusion and collaboration
  • High comfort the high growth/small company dynamic of rolling your sleeves and doing whatever it takes to get the job done given the constraints of time, budget and human resources
  • Prior brand building success with both big company and entrepreneurial companies
  • Strong leadership and motivational skills
  • Ability to persuade and positively influence at all levels of the organization
  • Able to think strategically one minute and execute tactical details the next
  • Extremely flexible with ability to adopt in fast moving, high growth environments
  • Highly creative and high energy, able to brainstorm and implement new ideas
