Surrey School District #36 is seeking applicants for the position of Tradesperson - Painter, for a full time (temporary) position. Reporting to the Manager of Security and Infrastructure at the District Facilities Centre.

The Tradesperson-Painter is responsible for a variety of projects including renovations, repairs, and new installations in over 140 school district sites and offices. The successful applicant must be a team-player ready to be part of a cohesive, effective team of professionals in the Maintenance Infrastructure Department who hold great pride in their work. The department requires applicants to be prepared to work effectively in a small team as well as independently to complete top quality work in a timely fashion. This is a temporary assignment that will work 37.5 hours/week with and end date of September 19th, 2025 (with possibility of extension) or until incumbent returns from leave.

The Surrey School District prides itself on providing our facilities staff with excellent work-life balance. This position offers a shift of 7am-3pm, Monday to Friday. The successful applicant will have access to top-quality tools and equipment, a well-maintained fleet of vehicles and the beautiful District Facilities Centre located in the heart of Surrey.

Applicants must have:

  • A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s license
  • TQ journeyman ticketed painter
  • A minimum of 5 years’ recent experience in a variety of painting work
  • Ability to perform duties of the position are required
  • Experience working in an institutional setting is a bonus!

This is a unionized position that offers an hourly wage rate of $40.65 per hour plus a comprehensive benefits package: municipal pension, health, vacation & sick benefits as well as on-site gym facility. Effective date per collective agreement.
