Highland Valley Copper (HVC) Operationsis Canada's largest open-pit copper mine and molybdenum operation. HVC produces both copper and molybdenum concentrate through autogenous and semi-autogenous grinding and flotation.

Reporting to the Tire Shop Supervisor in the Mine Maintenance Department, this position will be primarily responsible for safe and efficient tire mounting, repair, inspection, and maintenance for mining vehicles and equipment while leading safety compliance and supporting site operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and regulations.
  • Perform dismounting, mounting, balancing and repair of tires for mining vehicles.
  • Ensure tires are mounted and repaired safely, following load requirements and safety standards.
  • Conduct tire inspections, equipment checks, and maintenance tasks.
  • Assist mine maintenance staff as required, supporting operations with timely tire services.
  • Ensure workplace safety compliance by applying lockout/tagout procedures and maintaining awareness of explosive inflation hazards.
  • Handle all tasks in a safe and efficient manner, looking out for hazards such as heavy lifting, trips and slips.

Qualifications

  • Completion of grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in tire service, including heavy equipment specifically in the mining sector.
  • TIA Earthmover Tire Service (ETS) certification or equivalent OTR training.
  • TIA ATS (Automotive Tire Service) - Basic or Advanced for light vehicles.
  • Strong understanding of rim components, lock rights and tire safety hazards.
  • ASE Certification in areas including wheel/tire service.
  • Experience in mining or heavy industrial environments.
  • Ability to lift heavy tires and work in extreme conditions.
  • Ability to follow clear reporting and teamwork with maintenance crews.
  • Ability to adapt to and work effectively within a constantly evolving environment.
  • Valid driver's license.

Pay Range: $48.29

The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate's relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.

Working Conditions:
  • Location: Highland Valley Copper is a 50-minute drive from Kamloops, which has all of the comforts of city living and is also close to Merritt, Ashcroft, and Logan Lake, which all exude a small town community atmosphere.
  • Access: This is a drive-in/drive-out role. Most employees commute to site by car, and carpooling is common among team members.
