In anticipation of future project demands, WSP invites Telecom Engineers to apply for our fast-paced Vancouver office - Telecommunication group. Reporting to the Outside Plant Manager, this position would be responsible for technical drafting of Outside Plant Designs and coordination with the Telecom team.

In accordance with WSP procedures and policies, is responsible for the Permit and construction drawings of Outside Plant infrastructure under the guidance of the manager of the Outside Plant department and the Technical lead, utilizing AutoCAD. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring that all design plans adhere to applicable standards, specifications and client requirements.

This position requires close interaction and communicate with the office Telecom Technical leads and team members to ensure the timely and accurate completion of project cycles.


•Maintain revenue and profit objectives on projects
•Business development; with a focus on both existing and potentially new clients
•Perform site visits to gather information and inspect designed installations (working at heights)
•Manage all engineering project phases from design to final inspections of telecommunications sites (towers and roof-tops)
•Analyze communication towers and rooftops for installation of telecommunications equipment
•Coordinate with electrical team to complete site design solutions
•Oversee preparation of design drawings, and provide detail review for quality assurance and constructability
•Approval/sealing of design drawings
•Design reinforcing solutions for existing structures
•Write technical reports
•Keep projects within prescribed budget and timelines
•Operate within the guidelines prescribed by applicable Engineering Associations
•Mentor existing team members


•Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, interest in Structural
•Holds P.Eng accreditation in a Canadian Engineering Association
•Solid and relevant experience in the behavior of telecommunications structures and in carrying out structural analyzes and reinforcement designs for at least 5-10 years
•Strong knowledge of structural design using steel and concrete, etc.
•Strong verbal and written communication skills
•Proficiency in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
•Ability to travel


•Knowledge of CSA S16, CSA A23.3, CSA S37, CSA 086
•Knowledge of structural engineering programs (SAP2000, SFrame, STAAD, TSTower, GuyMaster)
•Proficiency in CAD drafting software
•Solid communication skills both orally and written in English
