Reporting to the Manager, Paper Machine, you will be responsible for assisting the PM2 and PM3 Managers in the production and continuous improvement of printing papers on both paper machines at Crofton. The incumbent must remain current on technical issues required to maintain the optimum performance of the paper machines and on quality issues affecting the customer. This position will appeal to candidates seeking a role with career advancement opportunities in paper operations management.


As an integral member of our team, you will:
• initiate, coordinate, conduct, document and assess mill trials and studies
• provide technical support to operators for process troubleshooting
• provide technical leadership for process improvement projects
• lead the identification, prioritization and resolution of process issues
• follow up on paper quality issues and liaise with sales on customer concerns
• identify and implement cost saving programs
• assist Operations Specialists to coordinate the activities between operations and the maintenance group, to ensure maximum availability of the paper machine
• assist with safety leadership and with the execution of safety programs in the paper mill
• there may be the occasional shift coverage required for supervisor relief.


A motivated self-starter equipped with good interpersonal and analytical skills, you will have an understanding of paper machine operations and possess good skills with logical, systematic troubleshooting of paper machine unit operations.

University Technical/Engineering degree.

• 4-7 years engineering experience in a paper mill environment is desired.
• Demonstrated problem solving skills.
• Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
• Supervisory experience/skills.
