The Team Lead, Finance IMITS PQTO reports to the Manager/Director and is responsible for stewardship and oversight of all aspects of Financial management of the IMITS project portfolio for Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH), Providence Health Care (PHC), and Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA). The Team Lead provides leadership and direction to PQTO project analysts and coordinates team members and other staff as needed to meet the requirements for project financial tracking and information integrity in order to achieve the highest level of client satisfaction. Develops and maintains effective working relationships within IMITS, Corporate Services and other key finance team stakeholders within VCH, PHC and PHSA. The Team Lead is responsible for both the day-to-day operations and leading assigned projects for the portfolio. Directly supervises team members, provides guidance and direction as applicable, mentors staff, and assists the Manager/Director with the hiring, mentoring and scheduling of staff and other resources. The Team Lead is also responsible for the delivery of service level and project reporting for Health Authority governance committees and snr stakeholders.

What you'll do
  • Ensures financial data is at the highest levels of integrity and accuracy. Coordinates the activities of staff and resources to ensure they are executing according to standard practices and timelines. Contributes towards continuous growth of the team through coaching and mentorship of staff and identification of new opportunities.
  • Assists in the establishment of project financial management and support structures that will be used by the organization to direct future development and change. Initiates and manages projects within the designated portfolio. Participates in the hiring process for staff and project resources.
  • Ensures problem resolution and customer satisfaction through ongoing communication with all levels of stakeholders within the organization and by developing and maintaining productive working relationships with project sponsors and health authority partners.
  • Leads and coordinates financial reviews of project budgets, in accordance with standard accounting practices in alignment with Health Authority partners.
  • Leads the analysis of portfolio level financial reporting and data. Accountable for identifying trends in financial reporting, and identification of strategies to ensure the most effective use of available project funding.
  • Provides leadership, guidance and supervision of staff using effective leadership techniques (e.g., coaching, mentoring, skills and leadership development and performance management). Provides staff training and orientation as required. Participates in staffing decisions related to recruitment, retention, discipline, and termination. Monitors financial resources with respect to operational obligations; takes corrective action as necessary.

What you bring
  • A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Bachelor Degree in a related field, plus five (5) years recent related experience in a finance related role. Minimum two (2) years recent experience in a leadership role.
  • Proven hands-on specialized experience managing budgets and financial reports.
  • Relevant certification in finance and accounting. Expert knowledge and understanding of financial reporting and budgets.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills with the ability to communicate complex ideas in simple terminology.
  • Ability to understand and clearly relate financial information and principals to other members of the team and organization.
  • Ability to analyze financial data, and recommend solutions, time management skills.
  • Direct Experience managing complex project financials.
  • Ability to supervise staff, provide guidance, coordinate work and resources, and evaluate performance.
