Position: Systems Engineer
Location: Burnaby / Richmond, BC, Canada
About Us:
General Fusion is transforming how the world is energized by developing the first commercially-viable fusion power plant. Fusion will deliver clean, safe and on-demand power at industrial scale, providing a powerful complement to renewables and a pathway to a zero-emission grid.
Combining new technologies, proven industrial processes, and advances in fundamental fusion science, General Fusion aims to be the first in the world to develop commercial fusion power. Key performance requirements have been demonstrated at the system level, setting the stage for building a pre-commercial fusion power prototype.

Position Overview:
General Fusion is seeking an experienced engineer to join our Fusion Demonstration Plant (FDP) Systems Engineering team. In this collaborative role, the successful candidate will work closely with Design Engineering to ensure several large electro-mechanical systems are defined, designed, and built to meet the program goals.
The Fusion Demonstration Plant (FDP) will be a complex facility that will house General Fusion’s prototype magnetized target fusion machine. This machine is a large and very complex device that is being designed by multiple teams of engineers and physicists. A significant part of this role will be to identify and manage the trade-offs associated with engineering issues that affect multiple groups and system owners. The candidate will work with the design engineering teams to achieve cross system design coherence. They will document the decisions taken, or report recommendations to the change control board. They will update and maintain the systems interface documentation, and requirements, to reflect the changes and to provide direction to the design group.
