Systems Application Specialist
This position is responsible for providing support to the district eSIS Team, district departments and school based users in managing the MyEdBC database in accordance with industry standards and practices and in developing queries and reports and providing information that supports business functionality.
The Systems Application Specialist works with the application development life cycle, including user requirements, systems analysis, detailed analysis, development testing, user testing, implementation, training, documentation and post implementation. The position also utilizes and conveys Project Management methodologies and techniques to subordinates. This position is unionized with an excellent benefits package.
The successful candidate will be working as part of the school district’s electronic student information services (ESIS) group, a responsive and innovative employer with a commitment to their role as Partners in Learning. ESIS provides leadership in the implementation of MyEducation BC and in systems and supports that align with the implementation of MyEdBC supporting schools and district departments including educators, administrators and support staff within the school district.
Knowledge of SQL, Power BI or other data visualization tools, Student Information Systems, FIPPA, ITIL and Project Management in a multi-vendor networked environment (OpenVMS, Windows, OS & iOS) including WIFI, Active Directory, Exchange and SharePoint technologies are a requirement, along with good communications, customer service skills and the ability to manage priorities and be focused on meeting service quality and timeliness targets.
A 2 year diploma in IT from a recognized, accredited college or technical institute and 6 years' previous programming and analysis and/or related experience in a computer systems environment utilizing the Software Development Life Cycle methodology. A knowledge of school and district operations is an asset.
