Want to use your expertise to connect to an IT career with a difference? As a systems analyst II at WorkSafeBC, you’ll do just that. Using leading-edge technology, you’ll help connect British Columbians to healthy and safe workplaces - providing support for injury prevention programs, rehabilitation services, workplace insurance, and strong health and safety cultures.


We’re looking for a systems analyst to develop project scope and plans for new development or major enhancements to existing systems in a client server environment. Our application delivery teams are responsible for the agile delivery and operation of technology solutions for internal areas of business, as well as employers, workers, and health care providers who use our WorkSafeBC self-service portals. You’ll play a key role on our team in guiding the development of new applications and maintaining existing ones to enable our clients to achieve their business objectives.


What you’ll do

As a systems analyst II you will:

  • Participate in or develop the project scope and plans for new development projects or enhancements to existing systems
  • Participate and drive adoption of integral agile practices including continuous integration/continuous deployment, automated testing, and test driven development
  • Develop the system design of projects
  • Develop and implement projects with complex and cross-functional changes
  • Provide a consulting service for the user on production systems
  • Function as a project leader on medium-sized projects or on specific segments of large projects
  • Contribute to evaluations of new technologies and software

  • Apply structured analysis, process, and design techniques
  • Organize and clearly and concisely deliver complex information and respond to unanticipated questions with thoughtful answers
  • Be an influencer to coach application and technical architects to achieve project goals
  • Estimate, plan, control, and track the technical aspects of projects while managing scope
  • Conduct feasibility studies and/or business cases


Your experience and educational background:

  • A diploma in computer programming and systems technology
  • A minimum of four years of experience in IT, with two years of experience in systems analysis
  • Working knowledge of MS Visual Studio Team System or similar continuous integration and continuous deployment technologies such as Team Foundation Server, Jenkins CI, GitHub, or Artifactory, specifically related to software build, unit testing, and deployment
  • General knowledge of cloud computing
  • General knowledge of support and service level agreements is an asset


An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
