POSITION OVERVIEW:

Surrey Police Service (SPS) has an exciting opportunity for a Systems Analyst 3 to join our growing Support Services Bureau. Our successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of enterprise systems including but not limited to server, storage, and infrastructure applications for SPS, as well as supervising/leading junior team members in carrying out systems analyst functions.

Reporting to the Infrastructure and Operations Manager, our successful candidate will be working on a variety of IT related processes and projects including but not limited to administering users in an M365, Azure, and on-prem environment; performing programming activities including the design and documentation of information systems; preparation of workflow charts, models and procedures; conducting feasibility studies for problem identification and system solutions; ensuring efficient functioning of existing/new systems through effective troubleshooting and managing scheduled installations and upgrades; and preparation of project plans including cost/benefit analysis, effective IT resource allocation; and input into project prioritization.

The incumbent will also be required to document user requirements, formulate logical statements of problems, devise solutions through IT or other means and develop cost/ benefits and submit recommendations for approval; perform programming activities; liaise and work with users, IT staff and vendors to develop and implement new systems and determine the cause of and correct system malfunctions; conduct or direct post implementation reviews of the effectiveness of new systems; assist with setting terms of reference for bid contracts; plan and organize work assi
gnments of junior team members; lead small project teams and assist other staff in performing their duties.
Our successful candidate will be highly organized and solutions-focused with an ability to think critically and efficiently. Our candidate will have demonstrated leadership/supervision experience with an ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with users, team members, and key stakeholders in supporting SPS’s IT infrastructure and strategic IT priorities.

APPLICANT QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field by a recognized educational institution supplemented by 4+ years work experience in a senior systems analyst position, preferably within a policing and/or public sector organization. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
*Experience in VMware, Microsoft SCCM and Azure, Cisco UCS and Netapp products is an asset.

This position is unionized represented by CUPE Local 402. The salary range for this position is $52.69-$59.75 based on 2023 Rates.
