What’s the job?

As a System Engineer Server - Infrastructure you will work with a crack team whose primary focus is to translate strategic technology initiatives into functional IT solutions. You will leverage your expert knowledge of Microsoft Server technologies, IP networks, enterprise class hardware, security best practices and familiarity with Redhat Linux as part of this team. You will also actively participate in strategic sessions such as disaster recovery planning, audit remediation, and business continuity development.  Your team, as the on-call critical support of the highest escalation, is ultimately responsible for timely support, analysis, optimization and resolution of all application / hardware related issues and security incident responses. What you’ll get to do:
  • Use your organizational capabilities to coordinate system development tasks to include design, integration and formal testing of systems, applications and services.
  • Actively oversee transition of infrastructure IT services to production environments.
  • Oversee the maintenance of the organizations physical and virtual computer systems, sans, applications and services using a combination of tools to analyze and optimize performance of the assets based on user and business needs.
  • Identify IT infrastructure needs, propose and implement system enhancements that will improve system performance and reliability.
  • Apply your skills to design and implement system security and data assurance.
  • Create and maintain manuals and detailed sets of instructions including programmatic and technical flowcharts, diagrams, and other documentation to insure efficient planning and execution.
  • Effectively manage assigned projects and program components to deliver services in accordance with established objectives. 
  • Test, evaluate and recommend IT hardware and software solutions for the enterprise.
  • Develop and establish guidelines/standards for server-based computer configurations for the organization.
  • On a rotating schedule, act as the primary infrastructure on-call critical support (7x24x365) point of escalation.
  • Design, develop, implement and test information system disaster recovery procedures related to Windows Client/Server environments.
Who are we looking for?
  • You bring to the team four to six years of related work experience in an enterprise organization and through your time you've gained a strong working knowledge of core Microsoft technologies including Active Directory, SCCM, Sharepoint, Messaging & Collaboration (Exchange & Lync) and Hyper V.
  • You are proud of your solid understanding of VMWare ESXi, UNIX, web application servers, IP networking, firewalls and load balancers.
  • You possess advanced experience with system application performance monitoring and tuning of 200 or more servers in a mixed environment, plus you possess a strong understanding of enterprise systems.
  • You have a robust hardware skill (Servers, NAS and network devices) that is accompanied by a thorough knowledge about systems security devices.
  • You've been hands-on with configuration management tools such as MS SCCM.
  • You have an in-depth knowledge of data center design, distribution networking and disaster recovery programs.
  • You like to show off to others your diploma in a program that included system engineer and general business knowledge and which can be recognized as a stepping stone for a possible degree program.
  • Ability to work a rotating on call support schedule with access to a vehicle.
