Job Description & Summary

A career in our Sustainability practice, within Risk Assurance Compliance and Analytics services, will provide you with the opportunity to assist clients in developing analytics and technology solutions that help them detect, monitor, and predict risk. Using advanced technology, we're able to focus on establishing the right controls, processes and structures for our clients to ensure that decisions are based on accurate information and assure that information provided to third parties is accurate, complete, and can be trusted.

Our team helps organisations plan, source, deliver, finance and measure the wider impact of products and services. We're helping to future proof businesses by making them more resilient and sustainable. You'll focus on identifying and prioritising sustainability issues, setting goals that support alignment and integration of the sustainability vision into overall corporate strategy, and implementing processes, controls, systems, and dashboards to measure progress for consistent and accurate reporting.

The Sustainability/ESG Group in the Vancouver Risk Assurance practice of PwC LLP provides non-financial assurance (certification/registration/consulting) to many clients throughout North America and around the world. The certification/registration assessments are to a variety of standards including:
• ISO 14001 Environmental Management System Standard • ISO 9001 Quality Management System Standard • ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Standard • ISO 27001 IT Security and GHG related standards
In addition, we provide advisory services related to health and safety leading industry practices such as development of integrated management systems, development of Bow Ties, Tripod Beta incident investigation, design of Risk Assessment Matrixes, environmental compliance reviews among other services.

Specific to the forestry, paper, and packaging sector we provide certification to the following standards:
• Sustainable Forestry Initiative® (SFI) Chain of Custody Standard • CSA Z809 Sustainable Forest Management Standard • American Forest Foundation (AFF) 2015-2020 Standards of Sustainability for Forest Certification • PEFCTM International Chain of Custody Standard • Forest Stewardship Council® Controlled Wood and Chain of Custody Standard

What You'll Create and Do

As a Senior Associate, you'll work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve complex forest sector business issues from strategy, operations, certification to execution. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Support managing PwC's certification practice's business management system operating procedures in alignment with our regulatory requirements as an Accredited Certification Body. • Conducting certification audits to FSC, PEFC and SFI forest management standards. • Supporting business development initiative and proposals. • Work with teams to deliver forest sector related ESG consulting projects. • Support industry benchmarking, forest policy and strategy projects. • Liaising with forest companies, consultants, Government, First Nations, and communities. • Researching issues and present opportunities/alternatives and conclusions to the Client. • Continuously communicating with the Manager and/or Partner with respect to engagement progress - risks, issues, variances from plan in terms of time, budget, etc. • Taking full ownership of electronic audit file and external file completion. • Analyzing engagement economics of self and team and explaining variances from plan • Developing strong relationships internally at PwC and with our forest sector clients help grow self and business opportunities. • Identifying potential opportunities to provide additional services to our clients. • Be responsible for the planning and coordination of assessments, which will require you to communicate with the Project Manager/Lead Auditor, the auditee/client and audit team members. • If not already completed, you will need to complete an auditor course to one of the Standards listed above and for this opportunity you will work towards achieving your Auditor or Lead Auditor designation by working on a variety of audit engagements. • Supporting business development activities such as assistance in preparation of budgets and proposals and initiating marketing of services to new and existing clients. • Travel throughout North America and some international travel will be required.

What you'll bring to either of the roles

• An interest in upskilling for a digital world and technology trends, an openness to learning new tools and adapting how you work • A demonstrated commitment to valuing differences and working alongside diverse people and perspectives • Post secondary education with in either forestry related Engineering, Forestry or Natural Resources. • Hands on experience with forest harvesting operations, planning, operational silviculture, fuel management, or forest inventory. • An Auditor's designation in one of the forestry Standards listed above would be an asset. • A professional designation or eligibility to obtain one (e.g. Professional Forester) would be an asset. • Proven ability to manage projects, specifically contract management, procurement, quality assurance • Extraordinary report and writing skills • Excellent oral and verbal communication skills • Demonstrated commitment to providing excellent client service, by building and maintaining productive relationships with both internal and external clients • Well-developed leadership, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills • Ability to multitask in a time sensitive environment; strong organizational skills, project management skills to be able to handle multiple projects/clients at once. • Ability to adapt and adjust to circumstances, as every client is different, and circumstances are ever changing • An analytical mindset, but with the ability to put yourself in the shoes of our clients and be able to think like a consultant • Eligible to obtain a US work visa and potentially international work visas • Able to drive in rural locations and off-road to access client sites • Willing to travel within and outside of Canada on average 40 to 50% of the year
