Reporting to the Manager, Metallurgy Intelligence, Metallurgy & Technology, the Superintendent, Metallurgy Information Management System (MIMS) is accountable for the effective development and operation of the Metallurgy Information Management System (MIMS) including the development, implementation, and management of the data governance structure to support effective site metallurgical data management.

Responsibilities:
  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Develop and implement an integrated Metallurgy Information Management System ensuring performance in accordance with industry standards, best practices and company policies to provide a single source of consolidated data for stakeholders to access
  • Develop, maintain and manage a data governance program including defining roles and responsibilities, implementing operating standards, maintaining data quality and ensuring accessibility
  • Collaborate with other disciplines including IT, Metallurgy, Production, Asset Management, Commercial Services and Finance to ensure efficient data flow, standardized processes, and optimal information infrastructure and applications to achieve organizational and site business objectives
  • Assist metallurgical data users and leadership with strategic goals by interpreting data, providing insights and making recommendations based on analytics and trends
  • Create a Metallurgy Information Management System training program on systems use, governance and data management best practices to all appropriate users
  • Set MIMS objectives and monitor and report system performance to ensure data management objectives are achieved
  • Develop and manage a long-term strategic Metallurgy Information Management System improvement plan by identifying opportunities, working with stakeholders, executing improvement initiatives, and validating performance results
  • Prepare budget and manage costs to ensure cost effective delivery of service


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Metallurgy, Materials Science, or a related field
  • 5+ years' experience as a data management leader or relevant experience with sound knowledge of the industry's state-of-the-art developments and practices preferred
  • Certification as a Data Management Professional is an asset
  • Advanced knowledge of data management principles including data governance
  • Experience working with vendors and consultants
  • Strong project management skills required
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
