About the Opportunity

Currently, Lake Excavating LTD is seeking a seasoned Superintendent to join our team at Highland Valley Copper, located 45 minutes south of Kamloops, B.C.

Your expertise and experience will create high quality final products and exceptional experience for project team members, while establishing yourself as a true partner with clients, consultants, subcontractors and community members. As the Superintendent, you’ll lead with integrity and safety while being a steward for quality and timely delivery, representing Lake Excavating LTD and our commitment to excellence at every point, in every project.

As our new Superintendent, you will work on key projects as you carry out a range of duties at varying levels of responsibility including:

  • Establishing relationships with and supervising all workers onsite, fostering a working environment built on trust
  • Creating, maintaining and executing the project plan and schedule
  • Recording site observations, employee hours, and health and safety incidents
  • Supervising and coordinating all construction activities
  • Contributing to the development and refinement of the project schedule
  • Administering contracts, subcontractors, purchase orders, site instructions and change notices to ensure scopes, terms and conditions are properly executed
  • Ensuring the project meets the Quality Standards and Design requirements
  • Completing projects within budget, on time and as per plans, specs, addenda, and approved changes
  • Advising senior management of potential problems, working interferences or schedule difficulties
  • Ensuring time sheets and applicable paper work is done and handed in to the office daily
  • Identifying skill gaps within the branch and assisting in developing training plans
  • Communicating project progress with project management
  • Assisting in inventory control of all materials, plant and equipment assigned to the project
  • Ensuring work is carried out in accordance with company safety policy including OHSA, Provincial and Federal legislation and labour agreements

More About You

As the successful candidate, you will have 3 to 5 years of experience in utility and civil construction, and in depth knowledge and understanding of safe work practices as they pertain to mines, utility and municipal-based civil construction. You have the ability to travel within B.C. while possessing a valid driver's license.

Knowledge of the B.C. Mines Act and Regulations and Worksafe B.C. policies, regulations, guidelines, and standards are preferred. Your superior attention to detail, ability to manage multiple responsibilities, and excellent organization, observation and documentation skills will ensure your success in this role. You are a committed team player with excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to facilitate training and briefings while promoting a culture of health and safety. Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite are required. 

B.C. Ministry of Mines Open Pit Shiftboss Ticket (full or restricted), Level 1 OFA Industry Standard First Aid Ticket, and Transportation Endorsement would be assets.
