What You Will Do:

The Strategic Sourcing Manager for Marketing manages the portfolio of spend associated with TELUS' marketing & advertising business.

As a Strategic Sourcing Manager (SSM) within our corporate Procurement team, you will be responsible for overall category strategy, project management, negotiating, drafting, administering and managing the full range of contracts associated with the Marketing category. Your categories include the marketing & media agencies, market research suppliers, experiential agencies, external sales agencies and multicultural agencies.

Additionally, you will be responsible for executing all sourcing strategies for the Marketing category, including - RFx development, negotiations, contract development and execution. You will also play an integral role in ongoing supplier governance and relationship management, ensuring that appropriate total value of ownership is achieved through the life of the contract.

This is what your day will include:
    •Determining overall category strategy, liaising with key stakeholders to understand business goals •Managing multiple projects •Strategic sourcing efforts from start to end (determine spend baseline and sourcing opportunities, market research, identification of suppliers, creation of RFx, analysis of proposals, recommendation on solutions, contract negotiation and execution, performance management) •Leading major contract proposals and conduct negotiations for standard and non-standard products or services •Leading operationalization of supplier contracts within TELUS business and supporting units •Managing TELUS and supplier compliance to contract terms, TELUS established standards and other preferred supplier programs •Conducting supplier performance reviews with the stakeholders •Excellent proficiency in drafting and negotiating contract terms from legally approved templates •Providing spend category intelligence and analytics •Responsibility for reporting savings on a monthly basis •Ensuring that appropriate decisions are made based on facts derived from analytical reasoning using both extensive internal and external data sources •Working closely with internal stakeholders, procurement team members and product and sales teams •Analyzing operational activity and interface with internal stakeholders to inform changes in business strategy •Mentoring and coaching junior team members


Qualifications:


What You Bring:
    •Solid procurement knowledge •Sound knowledge and category experience across the Marketing categories •Strong negotiation, contract creation and execution skills •Strong business and financial acumen - including proven experience to lead supplier negotiations and structuring deals (including establishing contract terms and conditions (i.e. pricing, performance management and SLA development), drafting legal agreements, risk mitigation and skilled negotiations •Proven experience developing and managing successful relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders at both working and senior levels •Strong cross-functional team management and facilitation skills, with both internal and external stakeholders, with ability to lead cross-functional teams towards desired outcomes •Ability to maintain perspective and confidence in face of difficult contract negotiations, tight deadlines and client expectations •Superior quantitative and analytical skills; statistics knowledge and experience is highly sought •Understanding and experience in data manipulation, sorting and analysis tools (Ariba, Excel, SAP, etc.) •Ability to create unique solutions to manage and/or analyze data to support decision making •Ability to work effectively with all levels within a large organization •Excellent project management and presentation skills •Strong organizational and time management skills •Excellent verbal, written and storytelling skills; ability to present findings to executive levels at TELUS •Strong problem solving skills, attention to detail •High degree of business ethics and accountability •Leading through influence skills •Good working knowledge of MS Office suite •Team player and "can do" attitude

Education/Experience Requirements:
    •Bachelor's Degree •Minimum 5-7 years equivalent experience •Proven experience developing and managing successful relationships with suppliers •Relevant experience working in a fast-paced, multi-project, complex environment •Experience with e-Sourcing tools such as Ariba •Experience with SAP •MBA Degree/SCMP designation is a definite asset
