Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

  • Masters degree in Outdoor Recreation or Natural Resource Management, or related field, with a minimum of one year experience with a minimum of three related experience; OR
  • Bachelor's degree or technical diploma in Outdoor Recreation or Natural Resource Management, or related field, with a minimum five years related experience; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered

  • Experience applying standards outlined in, the Park Act, Fisheries Act, Forest Act, and Wildlife Act. Ecological Reserve Act. Environment and Land Use Act. Forest and Range Practises Act.
  • Experience in the development and management of operating plans, policies and procedures for the management of public and private recreation services.
  • Experience in budget and contract development and management.
  • Experience using advanced negotiation, mediation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Experience supervising professional staff in program delivery.

In addition, the above requirements, preference may be given to those with experience in one or both of the following:
  • Developing and delivering operational safety programs.
  • Compliance and Enforcement related to natural resource, cultural resource, or recreation management (such as enforcement of the Park Act, Wildlife Act, etc.), or development of compliance and enforcement plans to deal with non-compliance).

  • Must be willing to secure park ranger designation which includes successful completion of PRKS 1010 - BC Parks Law and Its Administration (BCIT) and will be required to wear the BC Parks park ranger uniform.
  • Will be required to travel within the section and region, including overnight travel, and must be willing and able to undertake outdoor work, including in remote areas and in inclement weather.
  • Must hold a valid BC Class 5 Driver's Licence, or equivalent.
