Job Summary

The Team

The Campbell River Natural Resource District thrives on a blend of teamwork, individual expertise, and a commitment to delivering exceptional results. Our effective, diverse, and inclusive team excels in creating positive social, cultural, economic, and environmental impacts. With a strong foundation in collaboration, our district is made up of specialist teams including Forest Authorizations, Timber Pricing, Stewardship, Indigenous Relations, Engineering, Planning, and Administration. The Planning team, established in early 2023, is a vibrant and hardworking group of 5 professionals who engage in complex and rewarding projects, working alongside over 30 colleagues and various multidisciplinary specialists from across the province.

The Role

As a Land and Resource Specialist within this team, you'll play a crucial role in bridging environmental, social, and economic aspects of natural resource management. Your work will include supporting the old growth strategic review, leading stakeholder engagement, and managing strategic initiatives from start to finish. This role not only involves navigating intricate issues with multiple stakeholders and First Nations but also contributes to the development of better forest management practices and advancing reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples. Qualifications

Education:
• Bachelor's Degree or higher in a natural resource management related field (e.g., Forestry, Geography, or Natural Resource Management) AND, minimum 3 years experience working in a natural resource discipline; OR,
• Technical Diploma in a natural resource management related field (e.g., Forestry, Geography, or Natural Resource Management) AND, minimum 5 years experience working in a natural resource discipline, OR
• An equivalent combination of education and 7 years of related experience may be considered.

Experience:
• Recent (within last 5 years) experience working in natural resource management in a direct, matrix or project management environment.
• Recent (within last 3 years) experience in a multiple stakeholders and partners environment understanding perspectives, conflicts and facilitating/developing solutions.
• Recent (within last 3 years) experience related to First Nations consultation, collaboration and/ or relationship building with Indigenous communities in British Columbia.

Preference may be given to applicants with 1 or more of the following:
• Experience with geospatial analysis and data.
• Recent (within last 5 years) experience managing technical and/or professional staff in natural resource management in a direct, matrix or project management environment.
