The Ministry of Forests is responsible for supporting a sustainable and competitive future for BC's forest sector, while taking action to keep forests healthy and protect communities in the face of climate change and extreme weather events.

The Land and Resource Coordinator - Wildfire Risk Reduction is focused on the planning and implementation of wildfire risk reduction projects in the Prince George Natural Resource District, working within a broader team to ensure a collaborative and cohesive approach to District, Regional, and Provincial objectives.

The position works with diverse teams, gathers and manages complex natural resource data, completes analysis and develops options, provides advice to statutory decision makers, facilitates and coordinates projects, and engages directly with a wide variety of partners to support wildfire management initiatives and decisions, including resolving complex issues.

Job Requirements:
  • Registered, or immediately eligible for registration, as a Registered Forest Technologist (RFT) with Forest Professionals BC (FPBC). Note: immediately eligible for registration is defined as being able to transfer a current membership from an applicable jurisdiction to the BC association within six (6) months of employment. Confirmation of registration/eligibility is required before an offer of employment can be made.
  • Diploma (or higher) in a resource management related field (or equivalent) as recognized by FPBC.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in the natural resource sector.
  • Advanced training and/or experience in project management, including managing multiple projects or leading a component (e.g., sub-project) of a major project.
  • Experience managing relationships with senior level partners and leading consultation sessions.
  • Valid BC Class 5 Driver's Licence or equivalent.


Preference may be given to those with one (1) or more of the following:
  • Experience supervising staff.
  • Experience and/or knowledge in wildfire management practices.
  • Experience in contract management and administration.
  • Experience and/or knowledge implementing provincial and regional First Nations consultation procedures.
  • Experience with conflict and dispute resolution principles and practices.

About this Position:
This posting is to establish an eligibility list for temporary and permanent vacancies in Prince George.
There is currently one (1) temporary (to January 31, 2025), full time position available.
Board and lodging and relocation expenses do not apply for temporary positions.
This temporary opportunity may be extended or become a permanent position.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to two (2) days at home per week subject to an approved Telework Agreement.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
