The Senior Stewardship Resource Technologist provides a range of technical evaluation and advisory services to support decisions on the use of natural resources, and the achievement of and or coordination of the forest stewardship aspect of natural resource management.

An analytical thinker, you evaluate resource use applications, review proposals, engage in consultation with stakeholders and partners, and evaluate and make recommendations and/or approvals. You consult with stakeholders and partners on natural resource proposals/initiatives in a variety of areas, such as silviculture, tenure administration and natural resource management. Job Requirements:
  • Registered, or immediately eligible for registration, as a Registered Forest Technologist with Forest Professionals BC (FPBC). Note: immediately eligible for registration is defined as being able to immediately transfer a current membership from an applicable jurisdiction to FPBC within six (6) months of employment. Applicants who are currently in-training may be considered for this position, but at a lower classification. Confirmation of registration/eligibility will be required before an offer of employment can be confirmed.
  • Degree, diploma, or equivalent in a natural resource field.


Preference may be given to those with one (1) or more of the following:
  • Degree, diploma, or equivalent in forest management.
  • Experience in operational silviculture including planting, survey procedures and site preparation.
  • Experience in contract development and implementation.
  • Experience in working/consulting with First Nations on natural resource projects.
  • Experience in negotiating/mediating solutions in natural resource management.
  • Experience performing technical duties and working with key statutes that support natural resource management.


Provisos:
  • Valid BC Class 5 Driver's Licence or equivalent.
  • Meet safety standards of WorkSafe BC.
  • Conduct field work which may include travel to remote areas by vehicle, air or foot, and outdoor work in all weather conditions.
  • Must be willing and able to withstand the rigors of fieldwork.
  • Must be willing to work in adverse weather conditions.
  • Must be willing and able to travel to meet job requirements.
  • Must be willing and able to travel in fixed and/or rotary winged aircraft.

About this Position:
There is currently one (1) permanent, full time position available in Clearwater or Kamloops, BC.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to two (2) days at home per week subject to an approved Telework Agreement.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
Applicants who do not fully meet the required qualifications may be considered for this position, but at a lower classification.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future similar vacancies in the above locations.
