The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy is responsible for protecting and enhancing the Province's natural environment. This includes providing timely information on climate change, groundwater, water quality and quantity in lakes and rivers, air quality, and providing systems to support environmental health reporting. The Environmental and Climate Monitoring Section [ECMS] is charged with providing open, scientifically-credible, comprehensive data and information on changes to climate, air, water and groundwater conditions across the Province.

Supporting science, research and analysis, the Environmental and Climate Monitoring Section is responsible for the provincial ambient air, water, snow and climate monitoring networks. This Section directs monitoring equipment procurement and installation, data collection and management activities, quality assurance procedures, and reporting of air and water quality trends and state of the environment information. Through sharing of the data collected and the information obtained, regarding ambient air and water quality within the Province, the section helps shape Ministry policy, standards development and implementation, and associated effectiveness monitoring approaches.

The Quality Assurance and Analytics Specialist ensures all aspects of data analysis and analytics are applied to the Ministry's air quality and hydrometeorological [Snow Program] data streams to report accurate, reliable and repeatable data.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

To be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:
  • University degree in Environmental Sciences, Computer Science, Computer Systems with a preference for 4 or more years of related experience in air monitoring or data management; OR,
  • Technical diploma in Environmental Sciences, Computer Science, Computer Systems, meteorological or data management studies with a preference for 6 or more years of related experience in air monitoring or data management; OR,
  • An equivalent combination of related experience and training.
  • Data validation [quality assurance] experience.
