Job Summary
The Team
The Sunshine Coast District's Engineering department is dedicated to maintaining and improving the safety and accessibility of British Columbia's Forest Service Road network for both industrial and public users. The team consists of three key positions, including an Engineering Officer, a Senior Engineering Technician, and an Authorizations Technologist.
The Role
As an Authorizations Technologist, you will be instrumental in ensuring the safety and accessibility of the Forest Service Road (FSR) network. Your responsibilities will include conducting road inspections, managing electronic traffic counters, overseeing routine maintenance activities, preparing and implementing maintenance contracts, and developing cost estimates. This role is crucial in supporting and collaborating with other teams within the district, particularly the Authorizations Team, to ensure the seamless integration and execution of district priorities.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week as per the Telework Agreement

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Currently enrolled, or graduated from, a post-secondary program in Natural Resource Management or related field (forestry, environmental science, conservation, biology, etc.) OR;
- Secondary School graduation or equivalent, and a minimum 1 year working experience in natural resource management or related field (Biology, Water, Conservation, etc.
- Valid Class 5 B.C. driver's licence.
Preference may be given to applicants with:
- Registered, or eligible for registration as a Registered Forest Technologist with Forest Professionals B.C. (FPBC)
- Minimum 1-year recent experience (within the last 5 years) in waste and residue (i.e. submissions, check surveys, utilization), tenure administration (i.e. cutting permits, road permits), appraisals, or timber cruising.
