This is a temporary opportunity until March 31, 2021, with possibility of extension.
A permanent appointment may result from this temporary appointment.
Although this position has onsite office based requirements, it may temporarily be performed virtually due to the current extraordinary circumstances related to COVID-19. This will remain in place until physical distancing advisories are lifted.

AMENDED:The Water Information Technician provides specialised technical support for the water authorizations program. Operating with considerable independence, the Water Information Technician is responsible for research and analyses of records that provide concise and accurate status information for Water Sustainability Act related resource applications. This position maintains accuracy and integrity of a multi-user database and regional maps. The position also creates and produces digital map products to support water resource land/tenure decisions with the appropriate agency tools and performs data management, data capture, editing and updating. This position also reviews applications, prepares reports for water licences, water use approvals, change approvals, amendments, and cancellations, under the Water Sustainability Act."

Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

  • A Diploma in the resource management field, plus 3 years of related experience*; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may also be considered.
  • *Related experience must include all of the following:
    • Experience in the interpretation of legislation and/or policy.
    • Experience working with legal documents.
    • Experience creating a variety of digital and graphical products.
  • Preference may be given to applicants with the following:
    • Natural resource management education and/or experience.
    • Experience working with Microsoft Word and Excel.
    • Experience working with ARCGIS.
