Job Summary

The Senior Development Officer acts as a Statutory Decision Maker on development proposals within the Ministry's jurisdiction as well as provides technical reports to Provincial Approving Officers regarding proposed subdivision applications. This position develops relationships and works closely with local governments and stakeholders in ensuring compliance with legislation and regulations, public safety, and the functional integrity of the highway system. This position is responsible for managing the District Development Services program and staff.

Job Requirements:
  • Grade 12 or equivalent and minimum 7 years directly related experience or a diploma from an Institute of Technology in a related discipline, or Degree in a related discipline, and a minimum of four (4) years directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience in supervising staff and leading teams.

Provisos
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 BC Driver's License and be willing to operate a ministry vehicle.
  • Successful completion of security screening requirements of the BC Public Service, which may include a criminal records check, and/or Criminal Records Review Act (CRRA) check, and/or enhanced security screening checks as required by the ministry (Note: It is important that you read the job posting carefully to understand the specific security screening requirements pertaining to the position).
