The LDB is one of two branches of government responsible for the cannabis and liquor industry of B.C. We operate the wholesale distribution of beverage alcohol and non-medical cannabis within the province, as well as the household retail brands of BC Liquor Stores and BC Cannabis Stores.

Corporate Strategic Services (CSS) plays a critical role in supporting the entire organization. Comprised of Corporate Communications and Stakeholder Relations, Policy and Information, Privacy and Access Services, Sourcing and Vendor Performance, Strategy & Business Transformation and the Project Management Office, CSS is driven by customer-service and taking action to advise, consult and support each business area throughout the LDB.

The CSS team is comprised of approximately 50 staff. What brings CSS together as a team is the ability to work together to support both the operational areas of the business and other support areas (e.g., Corporate Operations, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology). The group has a strategic lens with a focus on ensuring the organization aligns and complies with corporate priorities, policies, legislation, best practices, and government mandate.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Corporate Communications and Stakeholder Relations (LDB Cannabis Operations, BC LIQUOR and digital portfolio), the Senior Graphic Designer is responsible for the creative development and all aspects of full production for digital content (website, e-newsletters, digital screens, advertisements, etc), collateral (posters, signage, etc), and branded materials for the LDB Corporate Communications and Stakeholder Relations team. This role establishes and maintains corporate standards for illustration or photography, photo and illustration banks and typography guides.

Work includes image files (e.g., photography), representational sketches and final illustrations, type and assembly, graphic art, animations, juxtaposition, visual materials, layout and design for final production files for printers.

Work is performed in a standard office environment including some remote and mobile work.

Position Requirements:
Education and Experience:


A degree or diploma in Marketing or Graphic Design and a minimum of 3 years of recent, related experience* in graphic layout and design.

OR

A minimum of 5 years of recent, related experience* in graphic layout and design supplemented by courses in Marketing/Graphic Design would be considered equivalent to the educational requirement.

*Recent, related experience is defined as experience occurring within the last 6 years and must include the following:
  • Experience developing and managing the design aspects related to a corporate brand.
  • Experience producing reports and/or publications (layout and design).
  • Experience creating design material for internal and external audiences.
  • Experience developing creative for social media sites.


Preference may be given to those candidates with the following:
  • Experience in graphic design, illustration, brand development, and management.
  • Experience working within a multi-unit business.
  • Experience working within a government and/ or unionized environment.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, JIRA.
  • Experience working with Graphics on a PC computer.
