We have an opportunity for a staff auditor to join our Internal Audit team on a temporary assignment of approximately one year. This role will appeal to an individual who is keen to evaluate and contribute to the improvement of governance, risk management, and internal controls.

 

Reporting to the audit manager, you’ll lead or assist on a variety of assurance and consulting engagements. On occasion, you’ll be designated as the auditor-in-charge for engagements assessed as low to medium risk, or internal infrastructure projects. You’ll use discretion and tact in handling confidential and sensitive information relating to policies and operations, divisions and departments, employees, and clients.

 

What you’ll do

As a staff auditor II you will:

  • Provide timely, professional service to our clients, understand and anticipate their needs, and adapt responses through creative, engaging approaches
  • Provide advice, guidance, and positive mentorship to staff while demonstrating ethical and professional behaviour
  • Present information in oral and written format to all levels of the organization, including senior executives
  • Challenge current practices and evaluate opportunities for improvement

We’re looking for someone who can:

  • Perform work in a systematic and disciplined approach in accordance with department and Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) standards
  • Work under pressure and adapt quickly to different situations
  • Explain accountability, assurance, business, and financial concepts to a non-technical audience
  • Exercise significant professional judgment regarding the interpretation of issues and requirements in an environment of change and complexity

 

Your experience and educational background:

  • A bachelor’s degree, Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) designation and any of the following:
    • A recognized accounting designation (CPA)
    • A Master’s of Business Administration (MBA) – equivalent or higher
    • Other relevant professional designations such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
  • A minimum of three years of experience in internal audit or equivalent experience in a related field of business
  • Working knowledge of internal control concepts
  • General knowledge of risk, governance, and control frameworks (e.g., COSO)
  • Working knowledge of flowcharting (e.g., Visio), database (e.g., Access), and MS Office (intermediate Excel, Word, Outlook) software
  • Familiarity with automated techniques used in the performance of assurance functions (audit management and/or ACL software)

 

An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
