Amazon Video is changing the way millions of customers interact with video content..
Amazon Channels, launched in December 2015, is an OTT platform that enables Prime members to subscribe to channels like Showtime, Starz, and more, à la carte, simply using their Amazon account-no cable or satellite necessary. Our mission is to change the future of TV-and we're seeking talented leaders to help us build that future for customers. On this team, you'll be responsible for creating and growing innovative new products within the business. We're growing very fast, and we need innovators excited to build Amazon Channels with us.
Currently, Amazon Channels is seeking a Senior Manager of Software Development to help us spearhead our Vancouver, Canada office.
What will you be working on?
We're bringing more great live television content to Amazon Channels and are seeking a Senior Manager to build multiple teams to own the "full stack" subscription experience-from how customers discover and sign up for a subscription channel on devices, to building new services for expanding the range of channels we can offer worldwide, and building new tools to make it possible for us to experiment and learn more about why customers sign up for channels.
This is a "day one" opportunity, and we're looking for a talented leader who can show they can build teams of entrepreneurial engineers and program managers, and who is excited by solving tough product and technical challenges in a very customer facing product space.
In this role, you will:
• Lead a team responsible for building a world-class video platform for Amazon Channels.
• Recruit, hire, mentor, and coach Senior Software Development Engineers and Software Development Managers.
• Lead the development of platform critical features.
• Own the operational excellence of software used by millions of users.
• Collaborate with other engineering teams within Amazon Channels and across Amazon in London, Bangalore, Seattle, Vancouver, Los Angeles, and Cupertino.
• Adeptly communicate with both technical and non-technical people, both local and remote.
• Help develop long-term development and business technology strategies.
Amazon believes so deeply in the mission of Video that we've launched our own studio to create original and exclusive content. Every day we face the challenges of a fast paced market and expanding technology set.
As a member of the Amazon Channels team, you will have the freedom and encouragement to explore your own ideas and the reward of seeing your contributions benefit millions of Amazon.com customers worldwide.
Using advanced machine learning and data mining techniques, we help our customers discover the best movies and TV shows. We measure data in Petabytes and streaming in Exabytes. We obsess over big picture problems like "How do we deliver video that's more reliable than the internet it's delivered over?" to low level details like "How do we squeeze maximum picture quality out of every bit delivered?" We strive to be on the forefront of new consumer technologies like UHD TV and High Dynamic Range video. We build huge scale distributed systems on the AWS cloud to make sure our service is always reliable for our customers. We use computer vision and machine learning techniques to build rich metadata about videos, and partner closely with teams like IMDb to let customers explore deeper into the TV and movies they love. In short, we have exciting challenges in an industry that's doubling in size every year, and you can be a part of it.
