A day in the life
The person in this role will have the opportunity to work across all of the Recruiting products, with a focus on the Candidates facing products. This person will have to learn about our current data flow, work with our tech and product teams to provide a better experience to candidates and recruiters with better access to data. This engineer will focus on resolving this ambiguous problem.

Job responsibilities
As Sr. Data Engineer you will focus on creating, owning and optimizing the advanced data pipelines, automating the data intake and data extraction process, and developing innovative data solutions.

In this role, you will be building complex data engineering and business intelligence applications using AWS big data stack. You should have deep expertise and passion in working with large data sets, data visualization, building complex data processes, performance tuning, bringing data from disparate data stores and programmatically identifying patterns. You should have excellent business acumen and communication skills to be able to work with business owners to develop and define key business questions and requirements. You will provide guidance and support for other engineers with industry best practices and direction. • 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role
• Experience with data modeling, data warehousing, and building ETL pipelines
• Experience in SQL
• Experience building/operating highly available, distributed systems of data extraction, ingestion, and processing of large data sets
• Experience working with AWS big data technologies (EMR, Redshift, S3, Glue, Kinesis and Lambda for serverless ETL)
• Experience using business intelligence reporting tools (Quicksight, Power BI, Tableau, Cognos, etc.)
• Proven success in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior management to collect requirements, describe data modeling decisions and data engineering strategy
• Experience providing technical leadership and mentoring other engineers for best practices on data engineering
• Knowledge of software engineering best practices across the development life cycle, including agile methodologies, coding standards, code reviews, source management, build processes, testing, and operations
• Mindset and problem solving skills to towards continuous improvement and have an edge to continuously research on latest technologies


• Masters in computer science, statistics, engineering or other quantitative fields
• Experience with end-to-end data pipeline automation process, including data input, data quality validation, data extraction and data reporting
• Proven success in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior management to collect requirements, describe data modeling decisions and data engineering strategy
• Experience working with disparate data sources to develop complex database architecture and data models
• Knowledge of distributed systems as it pertains to data storage and computing
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and technical writing skills
• Experience developing cloud software services and an understanding of design for scalability, performance, privacy, security and reliability
• Experience gathering requirements and providing technical solutions
