Position Overview:

The primary purpose of the Senior Business Systems Analyst is to serve as the key conduit to business users for requirements and analysis, and work with Architects and the Architecture Team to define and manage requirements. The Senior Business Systems Analyst also creates functional and technical design specifications in adherence to the standard methodology, provides deep functional and technical application expertise, and inputs to test planning and execution. This role resides within BTO's Development and Support team, specifically supporting the Field Enablement Systems.

    •Lead joint requirement/design session with partners to maximize business value by generating requirement/design specifications •Act effectively as a technical speaker with the business project team •Work with Solution Architects and the Architecture organization to define and manage requirements •Review project deliverables for functional and technical completeness and accuracy •Manage the code review to ensure the code satisfies the design specifications and complies with project standards •Prime the creation of gating estimations, including functional and high level technical design specifications •Perform pre-Gate 1 assessment work in collaboration with Architecture roles and provide initial high-level estimates for project planning purposes •Adhere to TELUS standard delivery methodology and serve as a methodology champion to achieve continuous improvement on IS project execution •Provide deep functional and technical application expertise around enhanced and mainstream data domains •Organize and manage work effort of self and others to provide quality service in a productive and cost effective manner •Provide leadership in growing a high-performance and collaborative team •Demonstrates professionalism in interactions with business and other stakeholders •Exhibit sense of commitment to business through cooperative and open relationships, with a focus on adding value •Promote and demonstrate effective communications, knowledge sharing and collaboration best practices •Actively chair and champion Business Systems Analyst communities of practice and provide leadership and guidance on behalf of the role to the management team


Required Skills and Experience:
    •Minimum 5+ years' experience gathering both functional and technical requirements •Strong technical background •Application development life-cycle knowledge is required •Design specification •Ability to develop test conditions and expected results based on the application requirements •Strong interpersonal and presentation skills •Strong oral and written communication skills •Strong facilitation and negotiation skills •Strong leadership skills •Strong analytical and problem solving skills •Excellent team player •Ability to work independently and prioritize work •Ability to handle multiple high priority items simultaneously •Ability to develop application requirements based on input gathered from a variety of sources including analysis results and feedback from the user community •Ability to review project deliverables for completeness and quality, and compliance with established project standards •Operational knowledge of Resource Planning, Scheduling and Dispatch •Knowledge of Workforce Management processes and systems •Strong experience developing use cases •Ability to analyze and design business processes •Knowledge of change management delivery process
