Job Summary
The Team
The Guardianship, Permanency, and Adoption team is a newly formed group committed to creating connections and fostering a sense of belonging for children and youth. This supportive and collaborative team, made up of a Team Leader, adoption and guardianship workers, and support staff, works closely with Indigenous communities, local ministry offices, and community partners. Together, they strive to build safe, stable environments and deliver meaningful outcomes that prioritize permanency and well-being for every child and youth they serve.
The Role
Lead a team committed to creating stability and permanency for children and youth in care. As a Team Lead, you'll mentor and guide staff, helping them interpret policies, regulations, and standards while supporting their professional growth. This is a rewarding opportunity to work with a dedicated group where collaboration, learning, and shared purpose drive meaningful outcomes for children and youth, ensuring they are connected to supportive communities and networks before leaving care.

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.

1. Preferred Credentials:
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Social Work or in Child & Youth Care OR Master's Degree in Educational Counselling Psychology/Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology with completion of a practicum in family and child welfare OR
- In-service Ministry of Children and Family Development employees who have a regular full working level SPO 24-30 base position that requires delegation under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA) OR
- A candidate may be considered equivalent when they are registered and a member in good standing with the BC College of Social Workers or has a letter from the College confirming that their application for registration has been approved.
- NOTE: If this education was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services ( ICES ). You must provide a comprehensive report and the MCFD supplemental report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.
- At least 2 years of job-specific work experience.
- Experience supervising staff.
2. Expanded Credentials:
- Bachelor's Degree in a Human Services field OR Bachelor's Degree with a Major/Honors in a Human Services field OR Master's level graduate Certificate/Diploma in a Human Services field AFTER the completion of an unrelated Bachelor's Degree..
- NOTE: If this education was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services ( ICES ). You must provide a basic report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.
- Minimum 1 year of related work experience and at least 2 years of job-specific work experience OR At least 3 years of job-specific work experience.
- Experience supervising staff.

Preference will be given to applicants with the Following:
- Applicants with preferred education credentials AND/OR In-service MCFD employees who hold a SPO24-30 base position that requires delegation under the Child, Family and Community Service Act (CFCSA).
Preference may be given to applicants with the following:
- Six (6) or more months' continuous experience supervising staff, in a unionized environment.
- Eligible for C4 delegation under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFSCA).
- Structured Analysis Family Evaluation (SAFE) training and experience completing SAFE home assessments.
- SAFE training for supervisors and experience supervising the completion of home studies.
- Completed the MCFD Permanency training and/or the weeks 2 and 3 of Adoption Delegation Training.
- Applicants who self-identify as Indigenous with the required combination of education and experience
- Guardianship experience.
- Applicants who hold full or partial adoption delegation-AD1, AD2.

- Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 BC Driver's License with no restriction or equivalent (i.e. from another Canadian Province).
