We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team in the Emergency department at Dawson Creek & District Hospital.
Under the direction of the Unit Manager, the ER/HAU RN provides direct nursing care to the Emergency and High Acuity care patients according to established standards/policies. The ER/HAU RN identifies, plans, implements and evaluates nursing care to assist patients in meeting their physical, social, and psychological needs in the Emergency and High Acuity Care environment. Nursing practice is guided by the vision and values of Northern Health, BCCN&M Standards of Nursing Practice and Code of Ethics. The Registered Nurse will use Northeast Health Services Delivery Area and Dawson Creek and District Hospital approved policies, procedures and protocols.
BCIT Emergency Nursing Specialty Program Details (Pre-Requisites Included)
• There are 7 training positions available for 2023/2024
• Northern Health provides placement support and funding for tuition, textbooks, and travel expenses for clinical placements, as required
• Successful candidates may be required complete pre-requisite courses through part-time distance education, on their own time, prior to assuming this position
• Learners should expect to make a 8 - 12 month commitment for this education, which includes online and in-person learning
• Additional study time, outside of scheduled hours, may be required to successfully complete the program • Flexibility for practicums is necessary
• Applicants must successfully complete the education program prior to working in the department
• Upon successful completion of the education program, Northern Health requires an eighteen (18) month return of service in a regular position in the area of nursing applicable to the education program. • Qualified applicants will be considered first for specialty positions. If there are no qualified applicants, training lines will be awarded to unqualified applicants and training will be provided
Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Monday to Friday, Days - 08:00 to 16:00
New Wage: As of April 1, 2023 the new wage is: $40.21 - $57.78/hour
Dawson Creek & District Hospital is a 50-bed hospital that offers full service that includes inpatient care, emergency, respiratory, rehab, surgery, obstetrics & gynecology lab, medical imaging and cancer care. The hospital is the northeastern BC orthopedic and trauma centre. Visiting specialists in urology, dermatology and pediatrics is also available.

Qualfications•Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.
•Current Level C CPR certification. ACLS, CTAS required or acquired within twelve (12) months from date of hire.
•Completion of, or willingness to enroll in a post-graduate Critical Care or Emergency Department Course.
•Must be willing to attain in house certification courses as required.
