Role Overview

Reporting to the Manager, Enterprise Architecture, the Solution Architect will collaborate with business sponsors, project managers, subject matter experts and business analysts to develop solution designs for various project initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have a background in designing infrastructure solutions[WN1.1][JL1.2] across technology domains including network services, server, data and cyber security in both on-premises and cloud environments.

The Solution Architect will be responsible for ensuring the final design package addresses the needs of business and operational stakeholders while aligning strategic objectives, governing principles, and existing technology standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Create detailed solution architecture to support project initiatives in alignment with business and strategic goals, operational requirements and project scope, timelines, and budget.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SME) to ensure solution details meet current state standards and objectives while supporting future state goals.
  • Create and propose technology standards, patterns or blueprints in support of practice efficiency and portfolio management goals.
  • Evaluate current technology against business and technology requirements and provide fit-for-use technology recommendations.
  • Review proposed architecture with key stakeholders at the Architecture Review Board (ARB)
  • Architectural Design: Develop and implement architecture solution standards and practices to mature practice capabilities, develop and define design standards and enable process efficiency.
  • Collaborate with technology stakeholders to create and document practice standards.
  • Provide reference architectures to promote reusability.
  • Identify areas for improvement across all architecture domains[WN2.1].
  • Provide leadership as an active participant in the Architecture Community of Practice (ACoP).
  • Drive continuous improvement of solutions architecture practice.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in applied sciences (Engineering, Systems Design, Information Technology and Computer Science) or Business.
  • 8+ years of experience in information or operational technology design or senior architect roles, including hands-on experience in IT/OT architecture, supporting technology planning, or maturing technology services.
  • Proficiency in provisioning and implementing technology in cloud, on-premises and hybrid configuration models. Ability to design and integrate complex systems, ensuring they are scalable, secure and cost-effective.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex systems, processes and integrations and formulate actionable plans and effective solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
