Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) is looking for a well-rounded Software Development Manager (SDM) to lead the critical development of a new ground breaking product within the EKS offering (EKS-Edge). We have an ambitious roadmap that will redefine how customers can use EKS on edge devices in complex connectivity scenarios.

Amazon EKS allows our customers to use Kubernetes at scale without the undifferentiated heavy lifting required to manage Kubernetes. Our mission is to accelerate the adoption of AWS by providing the best possible experience for customers using Kubernetes. We are growing fast and we are expanding our organization to help build additional features for our customers. This is a great time to join a growing organization and help influence what we can do for customers who are adopting Kubernetes as a cornerstone of their AWS strategy.

As a leader within the EKS-Edge service offering, you will be responsible for building and owning core services in charge of supporting EKS on different edge compute environments by owning the relevant EKS-Edge APIs, cloud formation support, and supporting tooling. If you are someone who is passionate about building high quality services, in delighting developers with an eye towards simple and streamlined interfaces, and have a passion for customers and developer communities, this job is for you.

The AWS Kubernetes organization is proud to be a diverse and inclusive organization. As the deeply technical leader of this operationally sound organization, your job is to inspire builders and recruit the best engineers and technical leaders to build the services and technologies that will be the backbone of computation at AWS for the next decade and beyond.

We're looking for someone who enjoys motivating and growing people. Executing through your team is the most important part of this role.
The ideal candidate understands software development. You've kept your technical skills current, to the point where you contribute to architecture discussions and help your team identify and reduce risks in projects. You regularly take part in troubleshooting exercises and drive technical post-mortem discussions to identify the root cause of complex issues. AWS operates large-scale, mission critical workloads, so you must be comfortable taking responsibility for the operational excellence of your service.

Finally, you're excited by the opportunity to learn about and help solve our customers' challenges. In order to break new ground, we'll need to resolve ambiguity and take calculated risks You have a record of delivery and are comfortable managing not only your own roadmap, but also cross-team projects with other parts of AWS. You can organize disparate teams around a common goal. You know how to make data driven decisions about your operations, your processes, and your team's performance.
