Our client, a Canadian owned organization with over 20 years in business is looking for a Shipper/ Receiver for their growing business.  This full time permanent role offers competitive remuneration as well as full benefits.


Position: Shipper Receiver

The Shipper Receiver will work closely with (though not restricted to) the Shop Supervisor/Manager and Operations Manager.  

 

General Responsibilities:

  • Is responsible for shipping all in-town and out-of-town orders as directed or instructed by the shop supervisor. High levels of activity and abnormal customer demands may be encountered within this service level.
  • Communicates on a regular basis with Shop Supervisor/Manager whenever service polices are not being maintained.
  • Communicates on a regular basis with Operations Manager and Shop Supervisor advising of problem orders, missed or late delivers, customer requests or problems etc.
  • Verifies and checks off completed shipping list copies, noting changes of quantity
  • Expedites all orders that require follow up, stock checks, special delivery deadlines.
  • Authorizes and /or approves carrier packing slips/bill of ladings under his jurisdiction.
  • Verifies and matches all packing slips, driver bills etc. to purchase orders.
  • Submits all relevant documents and ensures shipping lists are attached with every delivery.
  • Loading/unloading trailer loads of steel in a safe manner using correct dunnage under/between steel for stable loads as per shipping orders. Overseeing and assisting co-working labors during loading/ unloading of steel.
  • Responsible for verifying final inspections of all outgoing materials.
  • Quantities which were unable to be verified at time of receipt are counted and information forwarded to Shop Supervisor/Manager as soon as possible to ensure accuracy of shipping documents.
  • Any damage not seen on initial load is to be reported immediately.
  • Performs any other related duties that may be assigned.
  • Tracking Inspections and rental trailers and advising Shop Manager prior to inspection dates.

 

Areas of Capability:

  • Forklift trained.
  • Overhead bridge crane operation and safety, while co-workers are working in the area of use.
  • Safe and practical handling of all rigging, equipment and steel including inspection of equipment, chains, slings and other related rigging.
  • Driving the yard truck and trailer on company property (min. valid class 5 driver license).
  • Multitasking: actively working on more than one task in the most proficient manner, utilizing the machines & tools at hand to reduce steps not needed. 
  • Perform regular clean up on all areas of the shop and yard daily and as time allows.
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office software such as excel, outlook, and word.
